Journey Center for Safety and Healing (formerly known as Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center) is a non-profit organization that fosters safety and healing for those affected by domestic violence and child abuse and prevents abuse through education, advocacy, and systemic change. 

Visitation Monitors transfer and supervise visitation between parents and children.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Monitor visits between parents and children
  2. Monitor transfers of children between parents
  3. Model and teach appropriate parent-child behavior
  4. Intervene in parent-child interaction when necessary
  5. Meet with visiting parents before and after visits to review program expectations, establish consequences for inappropriate behavior, teach appropriate interaction, and make referrals as needed
  6. Record all observations, interactions, and interventions; maintain monthly record of client interactions, other activities, and referrals given
  7. Prepare planned activities for parents and children
  8. Perform cleaning, stocking, and shopping responsibilities as assigned
  9. Conduct intake interviews as assigned
  10. Conduct exit and follow up calls

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Public speaking and community education, as necessary
  2. Act as mentor for volunteers and student interns
  3. Works as a team with other agency personnel
  4. Testify in court as ordered
  5. Respect, understand, and promote Journey Center mission, values, and goals
  6. Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma and 2 years of experience working with youth and families

  2. Commitment to child abuse and domestic violence prevention
  3. Experience in and commitment to building and supporting trauma informed organizations committed to equity, inclusion, and advocacy
  4. Maintain a positive attitude
