What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist/Front Desk position at Journey Healthcare?
Front Desk Role: This role is an integral part of the Journey Healthcare patient care team as well as a key resource for all general inquiries to clients, staff, and other resources. Employee will be the main source of ensuring client services are properly facilitated as well as being a communicator between clients and providers.

- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
- Responsible for overseeing patient scheduling, appointments, and authorizations for medication following appointments.
- Insurance Verification
- Act as a liaison to patient support and patient administrative needs. You should be available to assist patients with any of their needs regarding services, including but not limited to; scheduling, payment, prior-authorizations, refill requests, etc.
- Assist in patient discharges from the program as needed including providing discharge notices and referrals.
- Timely mail retrieval and records request.
- Handle general active patient phone calls and inquiries, fielding calls and distributing as needed.
- Will perform appropriate charting of client documentation within clients electronic records during calls and contacts.
- Must maintain a safe, clean work environment that follows HIPPA guidelines.
- Document all interaction and treatment contacts with each patient according to Best Practices and in accordance with established Department of Health Regulations.
- Employee will comply with Journey’s established safety and security policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate a willingness to preform other practice duties as needed.
Requirements:
-1 to 2 years-experience in a healthcare setting.
-High school diploma or equivalent required
-Valid PA license or PA ID
-Provide 33/34 criminal background and FBI clearances.
-Knowledge of Pennsylvania confidentiality laws and protocols.
-Electronic Health Care Record Competence
-A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to clients who struggle with mental health and substance use.
-Ability to work within deadline restrictions.
-Excellent knowledge of computers with experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Teams.
-Exceptional time management skills and strong attention to detail.
-Adherence to Journey Healthcare policies and philosophies.
UPDATED Hours:
Monday-Thursday: 08:00 AM-06:00PM
Hours may be adjusted in the future to include Fridays as we expand.

The employee will have considerable knowledge of mental health treatment and will provide a supportive nature towards clients. They will be able to function independently but understands the importance of being a team player. Employee must display the ability to work within deadline restrictions, express good time management skills, while being reliable and punctual.
