Job Description – Journeys DDA
The Community-Based Support Staff plays a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of children with developmental disabilities. This position is centered around assisting these individuals to access and participate in community activities, fostering their independence, and promoting their well-being. The role involves creating enriching experiences and helping develop independent living skills in various community settings.
Responsibilities
As a Community-Based Support Staff, you will be responsible for providing one-on-one and group support services, guiding the individuals in mastering age-appropriate behavioral development and skills, and ensuring their safety and enjoyment in community environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Data collection, writing progress notes for each session, and summarizing the individual's activities, strengths, barriers, and observed needs monthly
- The job requires collaboration with treatment team members and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic support approach
- Perform individual instruction activities with participants
- Deliver instruction to practice skills, work on goals, etc. to clients/participants
- Reinforce learned skills through individual practice
- Analyze participant performance errors
- Review data weekly with direct supervisor and attend weekly/monthly training for a total of 12 hours annually, as well as completing any other training required by the state or company to provide services
- Coordinate communication to parent/guardian with direct supervisor
- Read and implement behavioral intervention programs with participants
- Successful completion of Habilitative Supports training required
- Become certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED within 60 days of employment and maintain certification throughout employment
- Maintain all licenses and certifications
- Other duties and responsibilities specified by supervisor
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess:
- a clean criminal history,
- a valid driving record
- dependable transportation
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification, which can be obtained post-employment.
