Are you passionate about creating nutritious and delicious meals in a supportive and caring environment? Our childcare center is seeking a dedicated Cook/Food Service Staff member to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring the health, safety, and satisfaction of the children in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a weekly menu in compliance with the Child Nutrition Program (CNP). Plan and prepare balanced, child-friendly meals and snacks that meet state licensing and nutritional guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols. Personal hygiene and cleanliness are a must.
- Manage inventory of food and non-food items, ensuring supplies are stocked, fresh and rotated.
- Develop and follow a daily meal schedule to ensure timely delivery of meals and snacks.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies while maintaining menu consistency.
- Document food preparation and service records in compliance with licensing regulations.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth operations and maintain a positive environment.
- Manage Gordon Food Service (GFS) ordering and create a shopping list for local store.
- Pick-up local items from store.
Qualifications:
- Ability to measure, add and calculate quantities.
- Proven experience in food preparation or kitchen work, preferably in a childcare or school setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of food safety practices, health regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to adhere to a set schedule.
- Friendly, team-oriented, and committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment for children.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Be a licensed driver in the state of Michigan, with a reliable vehicle for transporting local food and supplies on shopping days.
- Willingness to receive ServSafe certification, training for Universal Precautions, Civil Rights, etc.

Schedule: This is a full-time position, with regular hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday.
