The Opportunity: Part of JP Cullen’s mission is to train and retain the best people, and we are looking for a Training and Development specialist who can prepare the next leaders at JP Cullen. This person is responsible for successful onboarding, creating and maintaining consistency in training across the company, developing a training library, coordinating Cullen College courses, and supporting our employee functional groups as well as being a resource to Managers in creating individual growth and development plans. The T&D Specialist reports directly to the Director of Talent Development and supports employees throughout all the offices and project sites.

Major Responsibilities
Onboarding
- Facilitate the onboarding process and schedules for newly hired non-union team members
- Coordinate one on one trainings as needed
- Manage and organize new employee orientation
- Ensure the development of training priorities from growth plans
- Oversee the training management software program and Cullen College process
- Create the training library (including Videos, PDFs, and PowerPoint Presentations) and keep up to date as trainings are revised
- Coordinate and track training given across the Company for consistency
- Support employee groups such as Young Leaders, PMs, Estimators, and Support Staff
- Discuss training needs with employees and managers and determine top priorities and needs
- Assist internal trainers/presenters in developing training class content to ensure effectiveness and reinforcement of learning
- Review training surveys to evaluate content and help teachers make adjustments
- Conduct one-on-one or small group training as needed
- Manage and oversee the external training budget and evaluate the effectiveness of programs
- Be a champion of JP Cullen’s culture
- Conduct 45-day and 9-month check-in calls with new employees and managers
- Manage the engagement survey process and results as needed
- Measure and track retention rate and report trends
- Ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in HR, Marketing, Communication, Business Management, Engineering, Construction Management
- Three plus years of experience doing Training or HR in the construction or engineering industry is preferred but not required
- Basic project and time management skills and the ability to prioritize work based on business needs
- Candidates should be passionate about working with people, customer service and have excellent time management skills.
