What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor of Accounts Payable position at JP Express Service, Inc.?
Job Purpose: Oversee day-to-day accounts payable activities. Perform various tasks to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments.
Essential Job Functions:
· Provide supervision, guidance and training within the accounts payable area
· Establish positive working relationships with vendors. Reconcile and resolve any payment issues
· Utilize QuickBooks Desktop to enter A/P transactions
· Maintain the vendor database
· Review, code and record vendor invoices
· Verify and investigate discrepancies if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly statements
· Collaborate with other departments to facilitate processing of payments and ensure invoices have proper approvals
· Prepare and process in a timely and accurate manner weekly vendor and bi-weekly owner operator check runs
· Maintain vendor invoices and payment documentation in a well-organized manner
· Manage year-end 1099 reporting process
· Responsible for recommending and implementing processes and procedures to leadership to improve effectiveness of accounts payable functions
· Consistently meet all accounting deadlines in order to produce accurate and timely reports for management
· Assist in other areas of accounting with various tasks as needed
· Maintain a current procedure manual for this position
· Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent work experience required. A minimum 3-5 years related accounts payable experience with one year in a supervisory role. Candidate must be extremely detail-oriented, dependable and able to work well in a fast-paced environment with excellent computer, interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience with Microsoft office products (Excel, Word etc.) and QuickBooks Desktop experience required.
