The Role
JPA is actively seeking a Senior Vice President, Group Lead for our Public Health Practice who is a both a collaborative and dynamic leader as well as a seasoned strategist. The ideal candidate is a skilled builder, having deep experience in developing and leading campaigns, who can take our amazing team and clients to new heights. The person in this role will be adept at interpreting and anticipating team and client needs and is knowledgeable of both our clients’ requirements and the marketplace.
As the leader of JPA’s Public Health Team, you will be able to use your experience in winning and leading campaigns for foundations, professional societies, coalitions and others working in the non-profit arena to shape the direction of our Public Health Practice and its growth. A key aspect of the position will be supervising, mentoring and developing next generation leaders, leading by example and visibly demonstrating and championing our agency's vision and values. As the team’s hiring manager, you’ll lead staffing discussions and staff growth strategies. And as the team leader, you’ll play a key role in establishing the team’s vision for building out our well-established public health portfolio and advancing health at the global, national and community levels.
You will also serve on JPA’s senior leadership team, and you’ll be given considerable latitude for independent judgement, including profit & loss accountability and responsibility for keeping your team informed and engaged in our business and our culture. You will also be expected to contribute to agency-wide initiatives in partnership with other senior team leaders around JPA’s growing network.
This position is a hybrid role reporting to the Washington, DC office two days per week.

The Responsibilities
- Establish and drive the vision and strategic growth for JPA’s public health team.
- Serve as internal and external champion and ambassador amongst clients, teams, prospects and potential partners.
- Lead oversight and management of teams and clients across the team’s portfolio.
- Develop our public health team, including supporting professional development and mentoring.
- Develop a new business pipeline by leading opportunities for organic growth, while identifying and going after new business targets and leading response on incoming RFIs and RFPs.
- Oversee client teams with a robust understanding of best practices, ROI, and quality of service for client campaigns.
- Lead the translation of insights into strategies and tactical programming.
- Demonstrate an ability to build and lead integrated campaigns.
- Foster and lead collaboration and conversations with team as well as internal and external partners to establish and implement growth strategies.
- Exhibit sound fiscal judgment and management, ensuring profitability of programs and projects and monthly forecasting of staff time across projects.
Our ideal candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent directly relevant experience.
- 12 years in marketing and communications, including building and implementing strategic campaigns for foundations, professional societies, coalitions and others working in the non-profit arenas, as well as developing teams to deliver tactical programming.
- Marketing and/or communications agency account leadership experience in public and corporate affairs, public education and/or social marketing required.
- Track record of successfully leading and driving new business efforts as well as developing teams and talent.
- Demonstrated expertise in overseeing and optimizing budgets, managing fiscal responsibilities, and ensuring financial targets are met. The ideal candidate has a track record of strategic budget planning and allocation to drive agency profitability and sustain growth.
- Strong leadership and drive with the determination to build and inspire high-performing teams. The candidate should have experience in mentoring teams, fostering a collaborative culture, and enhancing the agency’s overall skill set to meet client needs and market demands.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in managing multiple clients and account teams.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, and professional manner.
- Ability to take initiative, manage multiple tasks, and work both independently and as a team.
- Understanding of the changing health landscape and its impact on the portfolio as well as opportunities for future growth.
- Strong management and organizational skills are required.
- Detail oriented, tech savvy, demonstratable critical thinking, and a passion for health.

- Competitive pay and opportunities to advance. The anticipated starting pay for this role is between $180,000 to $220,000 annually, based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, qualifications, and location. You may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses. We review compensation annually and evaluate readiness for promotions every quarter.
