Global Government Relations identifies and manages political, regulatory and legislative risk and opportunities to create a better environment for the bank and the communities it serves to thrive and grow. To achieve this result, we engage and educate government officials, public authorities and other key stakeholders; develop and advocate policy and regulatory positions; and provide information, analysis and strategic advice.
Global Government Relations is hiring an Vice President to support the Firm’s AI policy development. The position will report to the Head of AI Policy, who is also accountable to the firm’s Chief Data Officer. The ideal candidate will be based in New York, with anticipated occasional domestic and international travel as needed for project-based work.
As the AI Policy Manager, you will serve as a key advisor and leverage expertise in strategic planning, research and operations to advance development of internal analysis and recommendations with respect to the intersection of AI policy and business development.
The role will require close coordination across Lines of Business, Data & Analytics Team, Global Government Relations teams – International Government Relations, Federal Government Relations and Global Regulatory Affairs, and Corporate partners (e.g., Communications, Legal and Compliance, Risk Management, Global Security).
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead or support cross-department strategic projects & functions on behalf of the Head of AI Policy;
- Track significant initiatives and priority projects related to AI policy and advocacy across the department and the firm. Provide project management and coordination assistance to project teams, monitor progress on an ongoing basis, ensure appropriate briefing for senior leaders and successful project completion;
- Define problems; structure and build quantitative and qualitative / conceptual analyses; and apply strong judgment to identify implications and practical, high-impact solutions;
- Leverage public and non-public services to perform competitor / industry research;
- Support and lead third-party and coalition engagements with external stakeholders to advance the Firm’s agenda on critical issues in AI;
- Represent the Firm’s interests in Washington, DC, and other global capitals relating to AI and effectively communicate with a range of external stakeholders, including politicians, trade associations, think tanks, policymakers and regulators;
- Simultaneously work on multiple projects within the department as well as those that extend to Lines of Business, Corporate functions and strategy organizations across the firm;
- Preparation and delivery of accurate, comprehensive briefing materials, including memos and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Commercial mindset and background;
- 8-10 years of diverse problem-solving experience;
- Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills; sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills;
- Sound judgment: Able to distill complex information and evaluate diverse needs, perspectives, risks and other considerations to develop and articulate sound points of view to inform business decisions;
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to articulate concepts and strategies effectively;
- Strong organizational skills and project management experience;
- Experience presenting to and communicating with senior management;
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in financial services or AI;
- Basic understanding of the field of AI;
- Understanding of government and experience developing public policy is a plus.
