As an Underwriter III- Mortgage in Assumptions, you will be responsible for delivering top notch support that is vital to Home Lending and the Consumer and Community Bank. You will handle the analysis of underwriting file for Capacity, Capital, Character, Collateral, and Condition and also be responsible for the communication of the outcome of that analysis. This includes ensuring that loan request meets program and product specifications or counter-offer when appropriate. You must follow investor guidelines in the process to ensure compliance and meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
Job responsibilities
- Ensure that loan transaction meets investor assumption transfer of ownership guidelines
- Ensure that loan request meets program and product specifications or counter-offer, when appropriate
- Communicate decision of loan (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals within JPMorgan Chase
- Uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase Mortgage
- Meet productivity targets for productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Contribute continually to the success of the business, customers, profitability and controls
- Contribute to the initiatives that improve our business
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- 3 years' Conventional mortgage underwriting experience
- Expertise in Government, Agency and Jumbo guidelines as well as understanding of Government lending
- Demonstrated high productivity and quality in prior role in a consistent manor
- Demonstrates ability to work in a team, and coach/mentor others
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, decision making, and negotiation skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Demonstrates understanding of the end to end origination and/or assumptions process flow
- Knowledge of Mortgage insurance policies
- Experience in creative solutions, exceptions justification, and customer focus
