Job Description
Description: The Cashier - Nutritional Services is responsible for leading the operation of the cash register (point of sale system) following departmental and hospital cash tendering procedures to ensure that monies are secured and accounted for and that cafeteria sales are accurately transacted.
Typical Duties
- Operates electronic cash register, entering correct charges, collecting accurate amounts of money or debit/credit card payments and providing correct change to customers.
- Accurately enters physician or other departmental charges for meals via employee ID badges or meal cards.
- Prepares for each meal service by obtaining the correct amount of cash and coins for servicing customer transactions and recording cash on hand.
- Verifies and completes daily cash register reports by filling out appropriate forms and completing departmental records for cafeteria sales.
- Maintains a positive relationship with internal and external customers including the public and hospital staff with polite and accurate meal sales transactions.
- Ensures cash drawer is accurate and follows procedures to ensure that all monies are secured and accounted for at the end of shift.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Prior cashier experience.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Must have a current City of Fort Worth Food Handler’s Certification.
- Must have completed an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handler’s Certificate Program.
