Job Description:
Description: The Construction Safety Officer forms, reviews, updates, and enforces safety guidelines for construction within the healthcare environment. The Construction Safety Officer performs environmental rounding to evaluate the impact active construction projects may have on the Network with regards to life safety, infection control, air quality, utility disruptions, noise, vibration, and security to ensure safety of all occupants and in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) general construction guidelines.
Typical Duties:
Manages the contractor and/or vendor on-boarding process to ensure requirements are met to include training, badging, and conducting orientation. Assumes a quality assurance role to ensure requirements are continually met and maintained.
Conducts project specific risk assessments with Network staff in order to determine risk mitigation measures to be implemented during periods of construction and uses this information to develop project specific infection control and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM) plans.
Monitors, measures, and works closely with the Construction Project Manager to ensure the compliance of regulatory requirements and risk mitigation measures during periods of construction.
Manages regulatory documentation for projects and works closely with the Construction Project Manager to close out and archive completed projects.
Regularly performs environmental rounding to evaluate the impact active construction projects may have on the Network with regards to life safety, infection control, air quality, utility disruptions, noise, vibration, and security.
Facilitates and manages staff training for construction projects as required, which includes an education on building compartmentation, alternative fire evacuation routes, as well as education on other relevant project issues and concerns.
Works closely with the Construction Project Manager, contractors, and vendors to ensure construction barriers are maintained in their appearance and integrity and that all appropriate project signage is installed, accurate to present site conditions, and maintained throughout all projects and phases, as applicable.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or Specialized training and/or education in construction from an accredited vocational program.
- 3 plus years’ experience working in Construction and Safety.
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification.
- Associate's Degree or formal training from an accredited 2 year Construction or related Vocational Program.
- 5 plus years’ construction and safety experience in Healthcare setting.
- Understanding of Interim Life Safety Measure (ILSM) and Infection Prevention and Control within a healthcare environment. Preferred Licensure/Certification:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30 Hour (or more) Certification.
