Quality Assurance Technician
Summary/Objective
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and is responsible for the day to day testing and Quality Assurance of their designated products as assigned by the Quality Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.
Essential Functions

1. Monitor packaging to ensure correct labeling, date coding, and correct packaging is being followed.
2. Ensure product is produced to customer specifications
3. Ensure ingredients and raw materials are produced to JRS specifications
4. Performs daily test and swabs to ensure product and sanitation standards are being met.
5. Under supervision of QA Management, places questionable product on hold, recommends the discarding bad product or stops production line to correct or prevent product quality issues.
6. Assist in maintaining food safety programs for GFSI audits
7. Perform GMP inspection
8. Under supervision will perform Food Safety Inspection
9. Monitor product to ensure size and appearance requirements are being met.
10. Send samples to outside contracted labs for micro-testing
11. Perform daily inspection of the laboratory as it pertains to the designated production line(s)/area and Food Safety and Quality
12. Maintain inventory of lab supplies and order as neccessary
13. Collect finished product and environmental samples
14. Document and record all quality data
15. Promotes safety through work procedures, orderly work environments, and employee safety programs
16. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that are 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time nonexempt position. There are multiple positions open for the 2:00pm to 10:00pm shift and the 10:00pm to 6:00am shift.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of food processing experience
- Able to work with little supervision
- Basic math and literacy
- Basic computer operation skills including MS Office
- Ability to understand and operate basic product testing equipment
- High level of organizational skills, including written and verbal communication, creative problem solving, and commitment to company goals
- Knowledge of food safety principles
- Exhibit accurate attention to detail and have the ability to multi-task
- Familiarity with modern food manufacturing processes and food safety systems
