CNC Machine Operator I

JOB SUMMARY
Operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the 3rd Shift Machining Supervisor.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Work with a sense of urgency to complete a job or task.
- Required to have basic measuring equipment (1” mic. 6” Cal. 6” scale)
- Check to ensure that work pieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
- Lift work pieces to machines manually, or with hoists or cranes.
- Must be able to identify tool wear.
- Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
- Maintain precise in process reports, count sheets, and daily machine maintenance reports.
- Work as a team member and communicate well with leaders and co-workers.
- Replace worn or broken tooling with supervision.
- Willing to attend training to improve skills / knowledge.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 1 year experience as a CNC machine operator or a Basic Machining/CNC Fundamentals Certificate in Applied Science.
- Able to read and interpret part Blueprints.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance is desired.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods is also desired.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years experience as a CNC machine operator.
Requirements to Reach CNC Machine Operator 2: Have the ability to replace tooling with no supervision. This would include touching tools off or qualifying tools, entering tool data, and editing data. Example: adjust tool length or tool diameter for cutter compensation with no supervision.
- Ability to completely perform final inspections with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to read and interpret part prints.
- Identify tooling for various materials.
