Job Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Ground Truth Testing Data Collector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying and validating map data against real-world conditions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of our mapping services. This role involves extensive fieldwork, data collection, and analysis to identify discrepancies and provide feedback for map updates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field surveys to collect real-world data, including GPS coordinates, photos, and videos.
- Use high-accuracy GPS devices to capture accurate location data of roads, buildings, and other map features.
- Collect and record information on natural and man-made features such as roads, buildings, vegetation, and utilities.
- Input collected geographic data into GIS software.
- Prepare detailed reports on data collection activities and findings.
- Document methodologies and procedures used during data collection
- Work closely with other GIS professionals, cartographers, and surveyors.
- Participate in meetings and discussions to provide insights and updates on data collection efforts.
- Ensure all field equipment is in good working condition.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot GPS devices and other data collection tools as needed.
- Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while conducting fieldwork.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience in field data collection, surveying, or a related area.
- Proficiency with GPS devices, GIS software, and mobile mapping systems.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
- Physical ability to conduct fieldwork, which may include walking, driving, and carrying equipment.
- Familiarity with GIS knowledge and data collection is a plus.
