Position Overview:
Do you love numbers and have a knack for organization? As a Bookkeeper, you will play a vital role in keeping our business running smoothly. You’ll be the financial wizard who ensures our books are balanced, our bills are paid, and our employees get their hard-earned wages. Your meticulous attention to detail and financial insight will support the efficiency and success of our growing feedlot operations.

What You’ll Do:

1. Accounts Payable Management

  • Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring timely payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of accounts payable transactions, tracking due dates and payment terms.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.

2. Payroll Processing

  • Accurately calculate employee hours, wages, and deductions.
  • Ensure timely payroll processing and compliance with payroll tax regulations.
  • Maintain payroll records and address employee inquiries about compensation and benefits.

3. Accounts Receivable Management

  • Generate invoices, track outstanding balances, and follow up on overdue payments.
  • Record customer payments promptly and reconcile accounts receivable.
  • Address customer inquiries or discrepancies regarding payments.

4. General Ledger Maintenance

  • Record transactions in the general ledger in accordance with accounting principles.
  • Prepare journal entries for revenue, expenses, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.

5. Financial Reporting

  • Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Generate financial reports for management’s review and decision-making.

6. Inventory Control

  • Help monitor inventory levels and conduct periodic counts.
  • Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and record inventory transactions.
  • Collaborate with store management to optimize inventory practices.

7. Financial Analysis

  • Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide management with insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.

8. Other Responsibilities:

  • This position may include additional related duties as assigned. The duties outlined above describe the general nature of the role and are not exhaustive.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Experience in bookkeeping or accounting, ideally in agriculture or a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a sharp eye for catching discrepancies and errors.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • A passion for working in a dynamic, fast-paced agricultural environment.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and tax regulations is a plus.
