Position Description
The Learning and Development Specialist / Manager (Lean Focus) will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training programs that not only promote Lean principles but also cover a broader spectrum of professional and leadership development. You will work across all levels of the organization to ensure employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to excel, while also supporting the integration of Lean thinking and continuous improvement initiatives into everyday business operations.
This role requires an individual who is adept at instructional design, training delivery, and change management, with a deep understanding of Lean practices. You will also be responsible for assessing organizational learning needs, creating and maintaining training programs, and evaluating the effectiveness of those programs.
Position Requirements
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and Deliver Lean and Traditional Training Programs :
- Design, develop, and deliver training sessions on Lean principles, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and other continuous improvement tools.
- Develop and deliver traditional training programs focused on leadership development, employee skills training, onboarding, compliance, and professional development (e.g., soft skills, technical skills, customer service).
- Use a variety of training methods, including classroom sessions, webinars, eLearning modules, workshops, and blended learning approaches.
- Training Needs Assessment and Planning :
- Conduct training needs assessments through surveys, interviews, and performance data analysis to identify skills gaps and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with department managers to understand specific training needs and align learning initiatives with organizational goals.
- Develop a comprehensive learning and development strategy that includes both Lean-focused training and broader professional development programs.
- Facilitate Learning and Development Programs :
- Lead and facilitate training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, and effective.
- Provide individual coaching, mentoring, and development to managers and team leaders to help them adopt Lean principles and improve team performance.
- Facilitate leadership development programs aimed at enhancing managerial skills, fostering high-performance teams, and developing future leaders.
- Support Lean Culture and Continuous Improvement :
- Advocate for Lean methodologies and support the organization's efforts to integrate continuous improvement practices into daily operations.
- Work with leadership and teams to identify process improvement opportunities, lead Lean workshops, and ensure that training supports business transformation initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation of Lean projects and provide guidance on best practices to sustain improvements.
- Evaluate and Measure Training Effectiveness :
- Measure the effectiveness of training programs through feedback surveys, pre- and post-assessments, and performance metrics.
- Analyze learning outcomes and adjust programs as needed to improve effectiveness and align with organizational goals.
- Track and report on training program ROI, ensuring that investments in learning translate into measurable business improvements.
- Build and Maintain Learning Resources :
- Develop and maintain a repository of training materials, job aids, eLearning modules, and reference guides for ongoing learning and development.
- Update training content regularly to ensure it remains relevant and aligned with industry best practices and organizational needs.
- Create engaging learning content that is accessible and user-friendly across different platforms (e.g., LMS, intranet, digital learning tools).
- Onboarding and Employee Development :
- Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring that they receive the training and orientation necessary to integrate smoothly into the company culture and operations.
- Design and implement career development programs that support employees in achieving their professional goals, and align with organizational talent management strategies.
- Provide ongoing learning opportunities that support career advancement and skill development for employees at all levels.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams :
- Partner with HR, Operations, and department managers to align training initiatives with organizational objectives and performance metrics.
- Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training content is accurate, practical, and aligned with best practices.
- Support the integration of Lean training into other business initiatives, such as talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
- Manage Learning and Development Projects :
- Lead and manage L&D projects from start to finish, ensuring that objectives are met on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate logistics for training events, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and technology requirements.
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of training projects and make adjustments as necessary to ensure outcomes are achieved.
- Stay Current with Learning and Development Trends :
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in learning and development, particularly in Lean practices, leadership training, and adult learning principles.
- Participate in industry conferences, webinars, and professional networks to gather insights and bring new ideas into the training programs.
