Summary/Purpose
Perform the following duties to support the production departments with quality reworked tooling.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
• Follow all safety & PPE requirements, hazardous materials, lifting techniques, protective enclosures, etc. wear safety glasses, ear plugs and safety shoes.
• Associate is responsible for all rework from Grind Assembly, Rework all Backing plates and Shoe units to engineered standard complete all paperwork and turn into the storeroom as complete. Other duties as assigned.
• Regrind basic drill bits, etc.
• Grind material square and flat.
• deburr all parts.
• Department definition and Quality Awareness: What each department does and how it affects the “customer” – other Koyo departments.
• Relate parts reworked to department used and basic function of the part.
• Maintain 5”S” and demonstrate with clean and correct parts handling, organize work area, organize tool box and storage cabinets.
• Start/Stop and make adjustments for size, change inserts, drills, reamers, taps, grinding wheels, etc. (all rework area equipment).
• Train other associates as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Demonstrate proficiency with bench grinders, Belt sanders, Drill press, I.D / O.D. grinders and Table top mill and lathe. Able to maintain tolerances to .0003mm
• Thorough knowledge of precision gauging tools, i.e., micrometers, indicators, calipers, etc., and demonstrate knowledge of use and resolution of each. Identify acceptable parts and reject unacceptable.
• Blue print reading and ability to select multiple part numbers from one drawing.
Education and Experience:
• Two to three years of related Surface or O.D / I.D. Grinding / Setup experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
