Summary/Purpose
The Plant Manager must provide leadership and guidance to every functional area of the plant in compliance with all applicable policies, business objectives and performance targets, with particular focus on the five principles of The JTEKT Way. Ensure facility drives continuous improvements in safety, quality, delivery and operating costs. The plant manager is responsible to define and effectively communicate a clear strategy to satisfy customers, team members, and stakeholders; as well as, execute a plan to achieve objectives, remain profitable, and create a positive problem-solving culture.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities
Continuously strive to improve adherence to the Plant Management Standards.
The annual development and execution of a business plan that improves profitability, operational metrics and is accurately forecasted.
Drive Lean Manufacturing Methods, eliminate waste, improve process flow, and optimize lead times.
Developing and Driving all plant performance measurements and KPI’s including but not limited to: safety, quality, productivity, continuous improvement and profitability.
Using a variety of methods to communicate plant performance and profitability, as well as, long-term vision and objectives to internal and external partners including executive management.
Creating a positive plant culture that demonstrates leadership in safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
Driving customer service culture at every level and achieve highest ratings on customer satisfaction.
Develop plant leadership through coaching, mentoring and driving a team culture with strong communication practices throughout the organization.
Represent the company in the community and promote the company’s goodwill and interests in community activities.
Successfully identify and develop partnerships with local and global suppliers.
Develop and support marketing and sales in promotion of Torsen® products and growth of future business.
Interface with product development teams internally and externally.
Promote local, regional, and global relations and leveraging team work to strengthen standardization and eliminate redundancy of product development and strategies.
Foster a culture that reflects the JTEKT Guiding Principles to attract and retain qualified talent. Model the application of the Guiding Principles to maintain an inclusive environment and high degree of employee engagement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is responsible for managing and developing the plant leadership team in accordance with JTEKT policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires demonstrated successful leadership in a lean manufacturing environment and systems.
Experience in Management, manufacturing process, purchasing and continuous improvements.
Experience dealing with customers, budget preparation and cost control.
Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop relationships, trust, and drive teamwork.
Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills in a production environment.
Demonstrate JTEKT leadership skills – Inspire Trust, Create Vision, Execute Strategy, Coach Potential.
Ability to create and maintain a positive work environment and drive positive associate relations and team development.
Education and Experience
Bachelors in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business related field.
5 years’ experience as a cross-functional leader in an Automotive manufacturing plant
Experience in management, product development, supplier development, manufacturing processes, dealing with customers, budget preparation and cost control.
Previous Plant Manager preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting and manufacturing shop floor with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
The performance of this position will require constant exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10% of time.
