Summary/Purpose
Direct supervision of plant facility technicians and contractors for the care and sustained operations of the plant, including conducting team meetings, providing daily instructions, conducting performance appraisals, recommending and providing corrective counseling when necessary, managing schedules and key projects, facilitating departmental budgets, etc.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Perform principal leadership role in the care and maintenance of the plant’s facilities and operational systems, including but not limited to HVAC, structural (including roof and floor care), plumbing, campus layout and modifications, restroom maintenance as directed, etc.
- Facilitate activities concerned with design, construction, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery in industrial plant
- Will assume active role in departmental planning, submission and adherence to budgets and schedules.
- Coordinate the on-going work effort during a shift, including timely start-up and shutdown of the assigned manufacturing area.
- Communications and coordination between plants 1 and 2, as well as support departments such as Safety, Quality, Production Control, etc, and ensure that abnormal conditions are timely and accurately reported, addressed, and resolved
- Achievement of applicable goals and tasks related to safety, quality, and production requirements to meet customer demand and business financial objectives
- Develops bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition as well as capital prior consultation (CPC) documentation for plant-related projects. Directly manages developed programs.
- Presents CPC’s and supporting documentation.
- As required, support development of annual budget requirements related to facilities support and utilities to support business plan.
- Test newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications
- Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
- Present as directed line-side or otherwise Kaizen projects.
- Be able to use Microsoft Office Suite Applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain positive employee climate in work area. Monitor and maintain required records, and coordinate on the job training, and ensure technician compliance with all HS&E, quality, 5S, and other standard work procedures.
- Ensure the team has reasonable, workable vacation-scheduling plan, and provide hands-on support when required for training, to cover for emergency absenteeism and vacation, and so forth.
- Attend meetings and fill in for facility supervisor or department manager as required to cover for vacations, travel, and other short-term absences.
- Conduct effective team meetings.
- Secure resources from support functions to meet plant facility objectives as required.
- Assist department with goal setting.
- Provide facilitation or assistance with problem analysis and decision-making. .
- Must maintain professional attitude at all times.
- Responsible for team of facility technicians.
- Will lead contract technicians as required to complete regular assigned duties.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of CNC/PLC equipment and tooling / fixture experience
- Strong organizational skills, able to work well under pressure and manage several tasks simultaneously
- Must enjoy challenges and meet planned deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, College Degree is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a Facilities role in a fast-paced assembly environment, automotive is preferred.
- Experience with plant utilities and maintenance planning of utilities systems, including:
- Compressed air systems
- Fluid transfer systems
- HVAC
- Electrical Distribution
- Chilled water and cooling tower systems
- Rigging, installation, and foundation requirements for equipment installations.
- Prior supervision experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to walk approximately 3 – 7 miles per day
- Perform repetitive motions while walking or standing
- Stand/walk for duration of shift
- Visually check for minute details when performing quality checks, detect color
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week. Nights (emergencies), weekends, or holiday work is required for this role.
