This role will focus on leveraging Azure API Management and related tool sets to enhance our systems integration capabilities within the commercial insurance domain. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of API design, development, and management.
Principle Duties / Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
Technical Expertise:
o Strong knowledge of integration patterns, standards, and best practices.
o Hands on proficiency in Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Event Grid, and other Azure integration services.
o Experience in using Azure DevOps, Git, and other tools for integration development and deployment.
o Understanding/Experience with designing apps/API's using Clean Architecture concepts.

- Lead the design, development, and implementation of APIs using Azure API Management and related tools and technologies.
- Define best practices and standards for API development and management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and the IT Architecture Team to align API strategy with business goals and objectives.
Technical Expertise:
- Design and develop scalable and secure APIs that meet the needs of various business units.
- Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to team members on API development best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to API performance and integration.
o Strong knowledge of integration patterns, standards, and best practices.
o Hands on proficiency in Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Azure API Management, Azure Event Grid, and other Azure integration services.
o Experience in using Azure DevOps, Git, and other tools for integration development and deployment.
o Understanding/Experience with designing apps/API's using Clean Architecture concepts.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to understand integration requirements.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements and provide technical guidance.
Monitoring & Optimization:
- Implement monitoring solutions to track API performance and usage.
- Analyze API usage data to identify areas for optimization and improvement.
- Ensure APIs adhere to security standards and compliance requirements related to best practices and the insurance industry.
Documentation & Training:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for APIs, including specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
- Provide training and support to developers and end-users on API usage and best practices.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience:
- 5 years of experience in API development and management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience working with Azure API Management and related Azure services.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, and API security protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C# .NET, Java, and Python.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices and tools.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
