About the Position
The Community Outreach Director coordinates and oversees Access to Justice outreach initiatives with community stakeholders, including participation at community events and coordination of informational workshops and legal assistance clinics. This position will work in collaboration with various departments in the judicial branch as well as community members and will utilize a creative and professional approach to create greater access to the courts for all people across Maricopa County.

Position Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, justice studies, law, social work, or a related field of study preferred
Experience:
- Three (3) years of court, legal or directly related experience
OR
Combined Education and Experience Qualifications:
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and job-related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- A completed Arizona Court Supervisor (ACS) certification or Certified Court Manager (CCM) certification may substitute for one year of experience.
Other Requirements:
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to travel between multiple locations on a regular basis and operate an oversized vehicle.
Our Preferred Candidate Has:
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Familiarity with court operations, procedures, and terminology
- Successful management of community partner relations
- Experience in grant research, writing and reporting
- Experience with program development, evaluation, and growth
- Bilingual Spanish/English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations, including de-escalation techniques.

Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
- Schedule and coordinate volunteers and/or staff for community outreach events, including large tabling events as well as smaller workshops or clinics.
- Develop, schedule, and facilitate trainings for court staff who participate in community outreach events.
- Responsible for oversight, use and needs of court community outreach vehicles, office supplies and equipment, including any equipment provided to partner organizations.
- Manage program budgets, including research funding opportunities, grant writing and reporting as necessary.
- Maintaining communication with collaborative judicial branch departments as well as community stakeholders.
- Work closely with Law Library Resource Center (LLRC) staff and resources, be familiar with workings of the LLRC.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders across Maricopa County, including holding regular stakeholder meetings to share information, assess program effectiveness, provide training and information, etc.
- Provide direct customer assistance at outreach events.
- Develop program evaluation tools and provide reports to the court and community stakeholders.
- Create forms, informational materials, website content.
- Provide regular onsite supervision and employ in-person assessment methods to gauge business needs through direct observation, monitoring group dynamics with face-to-face interaction, and interpreting body language and nonverbal cues. Establishes interpersonal connections, fosters engagement, and exemplifies expected behaviors.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to communicate clearly, perceive details of objects that are close by, and maintain various physical positions for extended periods, such as sitting, standing, or walking. The job may involve using hands for tasks such as typing, handling objects, or operating tools, as well as reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally, the employee may be required to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Work for this position is performed in various locations across Maricopa County, including outdoor locations (for example: parks, parking lots, community centers, etc.) and employee may be required to drive an oversize vehicle throughout Maricopa County. This position allows for a hybrid/remote work schedule and work hours may shift depending on project or program needs and support staff or partner availability.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
