The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $59,654.40 to $63,439.00.

This position is exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
The Court Administration Supervisor provides leadership, supervision, and training for
Court Administration Assistants and other administrative staff who provide judicial support functions to various units in Family Court Administration (Customer Service, Judicial Assistants, etc.), as well as other external customers and community members.

Position Qualifications

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
  • Five (5) years of court, legal or directly related experience
OR
Combined education and experience qualifications:
  • Related post-secondary education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis
  • A completed Arizona Court Supervisor (ACS) certification or Certified Court Manager (CCM) certification may substitute for one year of experience
Our Preferred Candidate has:
  • Supervisory/Lead experience
  • Knowledge of Family Court case flow and processes
  • Enrollment in or completion of the Arizona Court Supervisor (ACS) Program
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
  • Effective supervisory practices and principles
  • Legal terminology, court policies/procedures, and courtroom proceedings, particularly those that relate to effective case flow management.
  • Principles and processes for providing customer outstanding customer service.
Skill in:
  • Computer software such as iCIS, MS Office software such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Supervising and evaluating assigned staff; coordinating work of subordinates
  • Orally and verbally communicating with others to convey information effectively
  • Establishing and maintaining cohesive working relationships within the Department, Judicial Branch and all Stakeholders.
  • Effective decision-making and conflict resolution
Ability to:
  • Apply effective supervisory techniques and practices
  • Excel in a high volume, fast-paced, and time-sensitive environment.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of others
  • Coach, motivate, mentor, and evaluate staff.

  • Improve processes, develop/enforce procedures, provide training and related materials
Essential Job Tasks
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
  • Monitors daily operations and coordinates court activities ensuring goals and objectives of the area are met.
  • Supervises staff (hiring, initial and ongoing training, staff development, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and performance management plans) as well as create work plans in accordance with established unit and program policies and objectives.
  • Responsible for case management, problem resolution, and investigates/responds to internal and external complaints and requests for information or service in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Regularly reviews rules, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and make recommendations for revisions
  • Prepares various communications to Judicial Officers and other court staff
  • Investigates and responds to public complaints and requests for information or service in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Conducts unit meetings on a regular basis with staff; attends Department meetings.
  • Ensure staff have the tools to perform their jobs (facilities, supplies etc.) and troubleshoot problems within the office environment as they surface.
  • Develops, maintains and reports statistics on a weekly and/or monthly basis.
  • Represents Family Court Administration in meetings, workgroups, and committees.
  • Promotes collaborative communication, problem-solving and promotes information sharing.
  • Ensures completion of mandated COJET training.
Working conditions:
This position will be located at one of the four Superior Court locations: Downtown (Phoenix, AZ), Southeast (Mesa, AZ), Northwest (Surprise, AZ), or Northeast (Phoenix, AZ). Requires occasional use of personal or county vehicle to travel to and from various court locations and events. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds.

Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan. Judicial Branch facilities are located throughout Maricopa County. This position may be reassigned to other locations. Assignments will be made based upon the needs of the department.
