PRIMARY PURPOSE
To manage the LOTC program which promotes citizenship, scholarship, leadership, and physical fitness.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification Requirements
- Associates degree or higher from an accredited university, preferred
- PREFERRED: Valid Texas Physical Education certification with required endorsement or
- Service JROTC certification
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Knowledge and Skills
- Qualified to conduct LOTC instructions as required
- Proactive, task oriented and motivated to serve the school and the community
- Possess the desire and appreciate the opportunity to work with young people
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form
- Ability to teach middle school or academy cadets/students
Experience
- Served in Armed Forces (US Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Coast Guard, or Air Force in the grade of: E-6 – E-9; W1 – W5; O3 – O 5
- Must have received an Honorable Discharge
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

- Manage the LOTC program effectively according to law, regulations, policies, and principles
- Actively recruit cadets/students to join LOTC; maintain enrollment at or above 100 cadets or a minimum of 10% of school enrollment
- Attend with cadets’ community functions, parades, competitions, and community-service based events
- Achieve desired learning goals by teaching prescribed LOTC subjects listed in the Program on Instruction
- Modify and improve given instruction by remaining continuously alert to new and alternative instructional methods and motivational techniques
- Comply with school district safety guidelines in all instances when instructing, supervising, monitoring, accompanying or escorting cadets
- Ensure facilities are adequate to support program Serve as Cadre for JCLC
- Attend professional development Develop and maintain instructor portfolio
- Develop and present quarterly academic achievement briefing (QAAB)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however, the supervision of cadets participating in LOTC is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).

- Office equipment – persona computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
- Communication equipment – radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
- Video monitoring equipment
