About the Employer
JCS was established in November 1999 (under a management organization) as a K-12 non-classroom based charter school. In 2000, the School, as a 501(c)(3) organization, incrementally began taking ownership of curriculum, instruction and assessment; finance, facilities, and business management; and organization, governance, and administration becoming a fully independent, direct funded, incorporated charter school by the 2002-2003 school year.
From inception, the School was designed to meet the needs of students under served by traditional delivery systems of education or for families with a strong desire to home school.
The School received an initial charter for two years and has had three additional five-year renewals.
Job Summary
The Assistant Principal will, consistent with corporate policies, procedures, and priorities, assist the School Principal to plan, organize, and manage human and material resources and instructional and operational functions for TK-12 students & staff.
JCS Cedar Cove and JCS Mountain Oaks are charter schools located in Encinitas, California and are part of the JCS Family of Charter Schools.
For 25 years, Julian Charter School has served students in grades TK-12 in person and via home study. In our unique hybrid model, we teach TK-12th grade students in person four days per week, with Friday as a home study day.
Requirements / Qualifications
Current California Administrative Services Credential, or equivalent as recognized by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). If you do not currently hold an appropriate California credential at the time of your application, your application will not be considered.
In addition to a resume and letter of introduction, we require three letters of recommendation, a current negative TB test, current CPR certification, and copies of all college transcripts to be uploaded at the time of application. JCS-Mountain Oaks / Cedar Cove is currently seeking to fill our Assistant Principal position. 100%FTE. This position is Medical and Vacation Benefit eligible.
The Assistant Principal will, consistent with corporate policies, procedures, and priorities, assist the School Principal to plan, organize, and manage human and material resources and instructional and operational functions for TK-12 personnel. Candidate with Administrative experience and 3 years of successful teaching experience preferred.
Previous independent study and home study experience preferred. Experience with GATE instructional strategies and Dual Language Immersion-Spanish preferred.
