About the Organization: Julie’s is a welcoming, inclusive space providing free educational and supportive services to develop strong, successful families and adults. Since 1974, Julie’s Family Learning Program has been dedicated to empowering mothers to recognize their strengths and utilize their know-how to stabilize and transform their family life. In 2019, Julie’s expanded its mission to all underserved learners, 16 years and older, who seek flexible opportunities to attain educational credentials and workplace skills crucial to meeting their life goals. Julie's operates three programs:
1) Family Development offers learning opportunities and support to underserved mothers/parents through an intensive, in-person curriculum of academic and life management skills. 2) Adult Basic Education (ABE) serves anyone age 16 who is interested in academic classes in preparation for a high school credential. 3) Children's Services offers licensed early childhood education (for infants to age 5) for the children of our adult learners. All adult learners have access to digital literacy classes, individual tutoring, career/next step services, and many supportive services.
About the Position: Julie’s seeks a skilled clinician to assist its adult learners’ success through case management, counseling, teaching, and crisis intervention. The Case Manager/Social Worker will work with students to develop individualized goals, and will work closely with a team of teacher/advisors and a Family Advocate to assist students in overcoming barriers to achieving those goals.
Responsibilities:
Case Management/Counseling
- Provide comprehensive case management and a continuum of care and resources to adult (age 16 ) learners, primarily mothers in Julie’s Family Development Program
- Work with students on goal setting, problem solving, and self-regulation
- Facilitate weekly therapeutic support groups
- When needed, work with parent and child together
- Assess children using ACEs scale
Teaching
- Lead Life Skills classes centered on learners needs, covering topics such as parenting, stress management, financial literacy, and supporting children in school
- Facilitate and/or coordinate staff training on trauma-informed care
- Potentially supervise a first or second year MSW intern
Crisis Intervention
- Respond to mental health crises that occur during the school day and follow up with students after crises occur
- Work closely with Children’s Services Coordinator and Family Development Program Coordinator on addressing concerns about child safety or wellbeing
- Assist the team to proactively create a calm, congenial student environment
- Support staff in responding to student conflicts.
Qualifications:
- LICSW or similar
- Strong commitment to Julie’s mission
- Proven history of culturally-sensitive, trauma-informed, strength-based care
- Knowledge of and experience working with marginalized populations
- Familiarity with community resources
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong commitment to privacy and professional boundaries

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience between $72,000 – $85,000 per year. Benefits include:
- 5 paid school vacation weeks off per year (February, April, June, August and December) plus 5 additional vacation days for a total of 6 weeks paid vacation per year
