What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children's Advocacy Center Intake Specialist position at Julie Valentine Center?
Job Description: The CAC Intake Specialist is responsible for processing intakes and therapy referrals for children including the gathering of relevant information and documentation needed to schedule an appointment. The CAC Intake Specialist will work closely with the CAC Program Coordinator to determine the appropriate services for children and to schedule appointments. The CAC IS will staff new cases with the assigned Family Advocates to ensure cohesive sharing of information. The CAC IS will respond to phone calls requesting assistance with services and when appropriate make reports to investigative agencies or referrals to other appropriate resources.

Administrative
- Triage and intake/ referral processing and information gathering, case staffing coordination with the CAC Program Coordinator and Family Advocates, scheduling of appointments for the CAC
- Expedite services requested by community partners while maintaining a high degree of professionalism
- Oversee the child therapy waiting list, making outside referrals when needed
- Assign Family Advocates for follow-up services
- Accurate data entry and reporting outputs and outcomes
- Maintain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credential by completing annual training requirements
- Participate as a member of the Multi-disciplinary team, agency staff meetings, fundraisers and other activities as assigned
- Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as professional affiliations, conferences, workshops, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/ or requested
Direct Services
- Provide trauma-informed support to families in need of services
- Participate in the rotating staff on-call schedule to provide crisis intervention services after hours by answering the hotline and responding to assault victims in the emergency room (approximately every 7 weeks)
- Must have reliable transportation and cell phone service to respond to sexual assault victims in the ER and on the hotline.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Human Services related field, Bachelors Degree preferred
Minimum Experience: 3 years preferred
Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage in collaborative communication. Must have experience and skill in providing crisis intervention and case management to victims of interpersonal violence; knowledge of criminal justice system and victim services; knowledge in child sexual abuse.
