What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Jumpstart Enrichment for Tomorrow's Students?
Must have High School Diploma or GED, have Driver's License, and be available between 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday.
This position is responsible for substituting in the classroom in the absence of teaching staff in a supportive and cooperative role carrying out developmentally appropriate activities that promote the health, safety, and developmental needs of the children. This position does not supervise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist classroom teacher in setting the environment for the activities of the day as well as performing the activities.
2. Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with groups and individual children.
3. Help promote communication, play, and socialization between children in the classroom.
4. Perform required caregiving activities as needed for children (i.e. feeding, toileting, dressing, etc.)
5. Follow a consistent schedule as establish in the classroom assigned.
6. Provide an atmosphere that promotes children to experiment, explore, problem solve, cooperate and socialize.
7. Listen and respond to children with respect.
8. Follow all agency policies and procedures.
9. Ensure that professional ethics and confidentiality are maintained.
10. Be an advocate for all children, families, and this agency.
11. Take advantage of available training in the education field.
12. Report any problems or concerns to QTLS and/or Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications
· Must be at least 18 years old
· Must be able to pass all criminal background checks
· Must have High School Diploma or GED
· Must have Driver's License
· Must be a steady reliable worker
· Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after given specific instructions
· Must display good language skills and verbal projection.
Physical Qualifications
· Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, kneel, crouch, stand for several hours, walk short distances and reach heights
· Vision sufficient for the supervision of children
· Must have sufficient strength and manual skill to lift children up to 50lbs.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
