Patient Account Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance for all scheduled patients. The Patient Account Specialist will explain financial responsibilities to patients. Specialist will collaborate with the revenue cycle team in addition to other departments.
High school diploma or GED required; additional technical education preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, MCOs, and commercial insurance required. Must demonstrate astute attention to detail and possess strong research and problem-solving skills. Accurate keyboarding skills required along with proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must also have excellent attendance along with written and verbal communication skills and be a team player. Well-developed interpersonal skills are needed for this position along with effective verbal and written communication skills. Foreign language skills beneficial. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
