ABOUT JA BIZTOWN:

JA BizTown combines classroom learning with a one-day economic simulation in an 8,500 square foot replica of an American city. Upper-elementary students (grades 4th-6th) spend 12 hours with educator-led curriculum, learning essential business concepts such as basic economics, civic responsibility, and community engagement. They apply for jobs and participate in mock interviews. After completing the classroom lessons, students visit JA BizTown for a one-day experience where they become citizens, work in various businesses, make personal financial decisions, hold business meetings, pay taxes, and donate to a non-profit organization. This interactive program not only teaches students how to manage their personal finances and the importance of becoming successful professionals in a community but also empowers them to take responsibility for their professional and educational futures.

ABOUT JA FINANCE PARK:

JA Finance Park is a program designed for middle and high school students to learn about budgeting and personal finance. Students participate in approximately 12 hours of educator-led classroom instruction, culminating in a high-tech, high-touch simulation day. During the four-and-a-half-hour simulation, students assume randomly assigned fictional adult roles that denote career, marital status, income level, and family size. They move from business to business, making real-life budget decisions about groceries, housing, health care, transportation, utilities, and savings. This simulation allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom by creating a balanced household budget.
