Job Summary:  

The Low Voltage Project Engineer is responsible for handling engineering-related tasks on mission-critical projects. This role focuses on creating cable matrices, schedules, and labels that detail cable routing, endpoints, and final labels. The Project Engineer also generates Requests for Information (RFIs) and provides essential support to the operations team to ensure successful project delivery.  

This role involves setting up test results, managing documentation, and creating visual references to help the delivery team understand scope, specifications, and project requirements. The Project Engineer reports to one of the following: Manager of Quality and Training, Vice President of Operations, Operations Managers, or Program Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Engineering Support: 

  • Develop cable matrices and schedules that clearly identify cable routing, endpoints, and final labels.
  • Create detailed labels for all cables and components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Generate Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify project scope, specifications, and requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to the operations team, ensuring all project documents and specifications are readily accessible.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure successful project delivery by setting them up with accurate engineering documentation.
  • Provide engineering support to the Estimating team, ensuring all Cable runs have been accounted for and that all parts are captured on the PML/BOM. 

Project Setup and Coordination: 

  • Assist in setting up project documentation, including cable schedules, test result templates, and visual references.
  • Create visual aids and reference documents to support the delivery team's understanding of project scope and specifications.
  • Ensure that all scope, specifications, and project documents are understood and effectively communicated to the delivery team.
  • Work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth execution of mission-critical projects.

Testing and Documentation: 

  • Set up testing protocols and manage test results to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Document and archive test results for future reference and quality assurance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to project engineering and installation.
  • Creation of As-Built documents for project close-out. 

Process Improvement: 

  • Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Quality and Training to develop training materials and best practices for project engineering.

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in mission-critical environments. 
  • Strong understanding of network cabling systems, including COAX, fiber optics, and copper cabling.
  • Proficiency in creating cable matrices, schedules, labels, and RFIs.
  • Experience in testing and managing test results for network cabling projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CAD software is a plus.

 

Pay Rate: 

$30.00 - $45.00/hour
