Job Summary:
The Security Estimator will be the primary resource for the creation of estimates and proposals for security related projects (access control, video management, intrusion, intercom and infant protection systems). The Security Estimator will have overall control and responsibility for an accurate estimate based on the information provided and will be the primary design expert, working closely with the Sales Team, Vendors, End-User, Project Manager, Project Foreman and Technicians to establish design parameters and an overall system solution.
The Security Estimator will have overall document control and responsibility for an accurate system/project design. You will walk job sites as required and must be comfortable talking with customers and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with external clients, company employees and subsidiary company leadership teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review of RFP’s, Specifications and Drawings for creation of accurate equipment lists and intended system design.
- Review and verification of door hardware schedules for proper function and product application.
- Identify and provide technical solutions to meet the requirements of the End-User.
- Interface with engineers, consultants, vendors, and other trades to gather required information and coordinate system solutions.
- Responsible for the creation of Proposals, Bill of Materials, and Scopes of Work.
- Participation in Customer Interviews, Bid Walks and Design Meetings.
- Manage and verify system network requirements, server/workstation requirements, equipment power requirements and infrastructure pathway.
- Knowledge of Permitting and code requirements for access control systems in various jurisdictions.
- Track all ASI’s, Alternates and Addenda for scope changes throughout the bidding phase.
- System Design and functionality support for the Operations Field Team.
- Knowledge of security systems architecture for access control systems (Software House, Genetec, S2, Open Options), Video Surveillance systems (Avigilon, Exacq, Video Insight, OnSSI, etc.), Intrusion Detection systems, Intercom Systems, Perimeter Detection, Emergency Phones.
- Review and coordination of all other trade documentation/drawings.
- Creation of accurate equipment lists and project shop/permit drawings.
- Review of Engineer/Technology Consultant final sign-off of equipment submittals.
- Create and review schematic designs using AutoCAD, and complete design in Bluebeam for publishing of PDF documents for field personnel.
- Preparation of Permit submittals and plans for review with local AHJ’s.
- Track all project RFI’s, ASI’s, RFC’s, CCD’s and Addenda for scope changes throughout the booked project.
- Update Shop Drawings, As-builts and redlines to support scope changes.
- Create and Manage Bid Questions and RFI’s
- System Design and functionality support for field personnel
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or 4 years of commercial access control experience.
- Certifications of security systems desired: (Software House, Genetec, Open Options, Avigilon, Maxxess, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch)
- Exceptional Verbal and Written Communication skills.
- Technical writing skills
- Understanding of construction documents (specifications, drawings, etc.)
- Must be a creative problem solver
- Able to utilize Basic AutoCAD, Design Software, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam software.
- Industry product knowledge
- Familiarity with IP Networks, Serial Communication, Wireless Protocols and Relay Logic.
- Basic electronic systems understanding
- Highly organized and self-motivated.
- Works well in a team-oriented environment
Pay Rate:
$60,000 - $80,000/year
