Jupiter Power is an energy infrastructure company focused on the development, construction, and operation of energy storage assets in wholesale electricity markets. Formed in 2017, the company is a national leader in energy storage deployment, utilizing its proprietary dispatch optimization applications to support both merchant and contracted structures. Jupiter currently has approximately 2200 megawatt-hours in construction or operation and is developing approximately 14 GW of projects over 2024-2030.
Jupiter seeks to hire a highly motivated and experienced professional as its Project Engineer in the EPC Department. The Project Engineer will support the technical evaluation, design, and execution of utility-scale energy storage projects throughout North America.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual project design including major equipment selection and specification, site layout, interconnection requirements, etc.
- Negotiate design and engineering standards with external counterparties
- Coordinate with different teams (e.g., development, procurement, construction) to ensure alignment with project goals
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Serve as liaison between project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Facilitate meetings and resolve conflicts or issues promptly
- Own relationship with third party engineers of record; review detailed civil, structural, and electrical engineering design packages, and ensure compliance with Jupiters technical specifications
- Conduct development site visits to support site constructability evaluation, landowner meetings, permitting hearings, and community outreach events
- Participate in on-site meetings involving counterparties and local government bodies such as planning commissions, fire departments, and others as needed
- Participate in project construction by responding to contractor RFIs, reviewing submittals, participating in monthly construction meetings, and overseeing field QA/QC efforts
- Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the optimization of workflows
- Apply lessons learned from completed projects to improve future project outcomes and maintain working engineering standards, scope of work documents, and specifications

Requirements
- 2 years in the power and energy industry, preferably working on the design and engineering of high voltage substations and renewable and storage projects
- Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering
- Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with varied interests and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of high voltage substation, renewable and battery storage projects physical, electrical, and protection and control design
- Project engineering experience, including managing and reviewing engineering design package deliverables including drawings and studies, and working with the engineer of record and construction contractor through engineering, construction, commissioning, testing, and completion
- Professional engineering (PE) certification
This role will be based out of our Chicago, Illinois office and will be subject to our return-to-office policy which currently requires employees come in 3 days per week.
