The Role
The Pre-Construction Workflow Manager will be responsible for managing the pre-construction processes for late-stage development projects and eventual handoff to the construction and engineering teams. This role involves coordination across departments, negotiating standards with external counterparties, coordinating engineering studies, managing the de-risking process of development projects, and ensuring that all deliverables are met on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
This role will be based out of our Austin, Texas or Chicago, Illinois offices and is subject to our Company’s return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the pre-construction process for renewable energy projects, ensuring smooth transitions between late-stage development and project construction.
- Support financing teams by providing timely project information and responses during the financial close due-diligence process.
- Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., development, engineering, construction, operations) to align on project timelines, deliverables, and handover requirements.
- Develop and implement standardized processes and workflows for the pre-construction process, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients during the projects’ late-stage development and handover phases, addressing questions and ensuring their needs are met.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards during project handover.
- Create a project handoff sheet outlining all major technical and commercial details of late-stage development projects.
- Track and report on key performance metrics for pre-construction workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimizing processes.
- Manage project documentation, including contracts, EPC contractor documents, design specifications
- Create, manage, and evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs) for indicative and firm construction and balance of plant equipment.
- Engage with key contractors to deepen Jupiter Power’s supplier relationships.
- Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure all equipment and components are delivered and accounted for during the construction process.
- Ensure long-lead items are properly ordered during the pre-construction phase. Work with the engineering team to ensure long-lead equipment follows Jupiter specifications.
- Lead supplier and EPC contractor contract negotiations.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with the transition between build phases, developing contingency plans as needed.
- Lead post-handoff evaluations and feedback sessions with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Provide ongoing support to construction and engineering teams during project execution (post handoff).
- This role requires a blend of project management expertise, technical understanding of renewable energy systems, and strong organizational abilities to manage complex transitions between project phases.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Proven experience in project management, with a strong focus on build-to-operation transitions.
- Knowledge of renewable/BESS energy technologies (e.g., solar, wind, hydro, storage) and the specific challenges associated with their construction and operation.
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and workflow management software (Procore or similar).
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of construction experience, ideally in the renewable energy industry.
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred
Compensation & Benefits
$130,000 - $140,000 Annually
In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity programs.
