The Aggregate Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of aggregate production and customer load out, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality standards are met. This role provides hands-on leadership to production teams, coordinates with maintenance and operational staff, and ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of aggregate production processes, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of production workers, ensuring alignment with daily goals and operational priorities.
- Participate and facilitate regular safety briefings and on-site inspections to identify hazards, monitor compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and enforce proper protocols to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture, ensuring that employees are motivated and held accountable for their work.
- Provide hands-on leadership, walking the pit and plant regularly to monitor operations, address issues, and communicate with team members directly.
- Set clear expectations and establish performance goals for the team, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Foster an environment where team members feel empowered to report unsafe conditions, near misses, or unsafe behavior without fear of retribution, ensuring that corrective actions are taken promptly to maintain a safe working environment.
- Troubleshoot operational issues (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Provide management with recommendations on maintenance plans while troubleshooting and resolving issues from an operational perspective.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with management to align production goals, discuss equipment needs, and address any operational concerns.
- Conduct follow-ups with management to ensure maintenance tasks are completed and production schedules are being met.
- Work closely with management to gather feedback on operational challenges and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
- Support the coordination of operations across shifts.
Quality and Compliance Oversight
- Ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with environmental regulations and internal company standards.
- Monitor and manage production quality to consistently meet industry and customer specifications.
- Ensure environmental compliance and support sustainable operational practices.
Production and Process Optimization
- Oversee the daily production schedule to ensure the consistent and timely delivery of materials, meeting the high demand for products.
- Continuously assess production processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to increase output and reduce inefficiencies.
- Ensure finished products meet or exceed specifications and customer requirements.
- Track key performance metrics and adjust processes as necessary to maintain production goals and operational excellence.
Continuous Improvement and Development
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and implement new technologies or methods.
- Identify and address skill gaps, providing training and development opportunities for team members to improve their performance and capabilities.
- Take proactive steps to resolve challenges, consistently striving for operational excellence and a high level of team performance.
Qualifications:
- Experience in aggregate production or surface mining operations.
- 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a mining or production environment is preferred.
- Strong operational knowledge of aggregate production processes, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proven track record of meeting production goals and optimizing operations for maximum efficiency.
- Familiarity with MSHA safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to obtain or currently possess a Foreman’s License.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
