Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to residents in assisted living and memory care settings. This position requires a strong understanding of medication administration, patient care, and adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA. As a Medication Aide, you will work closely with nursing staff to ensure the well-being of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
- Monitor residents for any adverse reactions or side effects related to medication.
- Assist with daily living activities and provide support in memory care and dementia care settings.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and resident health status.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to develop individualized care plans based on residents' needs.
- Ensure that all practices adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in medication management and patient care.
Skills
- Knowledge of physiology and the effects of medications on the human body.
- Experience in home community care, assisted living, or hospital settings is preferred.
- Strong understanding of dementia care principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for accurate record keeping.
