Part-time, seasonal. Generally, follows calendar for assigned accounts. Schedule may also include pre-season preparation; year-end follow up and occasional mandatory training days.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The job of Food Service Worker is to providing support to the Lead Food Service Worker and Food Service Manager at the assigned Just A Dash location with the specific responsibilities of preparing and serving food items to students and school personnel. As well as maintaining food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily arranges food and beverage items in a serving line for serving them to students and staff in a neat, organized and efficient manner.
- Collects daily items to be processed for recording, reporting and/or sending on to other personnel.
- Assist daily in operating POS/Point of Sale for food items from students and staff for completing transactions and securing funds for foodselection.
- Inventories daily food, condiments, and supplies for ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
- Maintains daily equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfectingsteam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for compliance with local health standards and Just a Dash standards and ensuringthe safety of all food products.
- Reports equipment malfunctions for compliance with local health standards and Just A Dash
- Maintains storage areas for ensuring a clean and safe work area daily.
- Models a high standard of Customer Service and nondiscriminatory, practices in all daily activities.
- Prepares food and beverage items for meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements daily.
- Able to work in kitchen environment, i.e. (heat, cold, steam and smoke) routinely.
- Able to perform job under time deadlines consistently
- Ability to prepare menu items daily following NSLP guidelines as per the production record, using approved Just A Dash Catering or USDArecipes.
- Daily Compliance with food safety practices as outlined in the Illinois Food Code for food safety.
- Ability to follow all Just a Dash Management, Inc. policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Just A Dash S.T.O.PManual.
- Reconciles daily meals served and meals delivered to meal counts for maintaining accurate records and complying with established policiesand/or procedures.
- Reports equipment malfunctions for notifying supervisor of need for repair and/or replacement.
- Serves all food items for meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
- Attends all mandatory scheduled meetings, participates in onsite training, etc. for gaining information required to perform job functions.
- Maintain all daily, weekly and monthly forms and reports relating to production, delivery and leftover foods.
- Ability to follow direction from Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit daily.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
High school diploma
Food Handlers Card
Ability to operate computer
Ability to operate and utilize all food service equipment, tools and materials in a safe and effective manner
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Qualifications:
Ability to travel to sites within the assigned district when necessary Must be organized and self-motivated.
Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally, Ability to stand for more than 3 hours, Ability to meet the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
