Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will oversee the accounting processes, ensure compliance, and provide the Controller and CFO key financial accounting insights while executing detailed accounting tasks and procedures within the team and with multiple functional areas. This position has the opportunity to apply expertise in a fast-paced, growing company while building foundational processes and procedures within the department and the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of day-to-day accounting, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
• Complete inventory accounting processes, reconciliations, and post to the general ledger
• Prepare reports on inventory levels, cost of goods sold (COGS), and margins, specific to e-commerce operations
• Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare materials for annual audits
• Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring proper documentation and timely payments
• Work closely with the operations and sales teams to track e-commerce performance and its impact on finances
• Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing financial insights and trend analysis
• Utilize e-commerce platform reporting to reconcile sales and ensure accurate financial records
• Continuously optimize internal accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 5-7 years of accounting experience
• Strong understanding of e-commerce financial systems, platforms, and workflows
• Proficient in accounting software e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
• Experience with financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes
• Familiarity with online payment systems, reconciliation of online transactions, and financial platforms like Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, or similar
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across departments
• Creative self-starter who thrives in a team-oriented environment
  
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with financial forecasting and budgeting for e-commerce businesses
• Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Paycom, and/or other relevant accounting and processing platforms
• Adaptability in a fast-changing and evolving environment
• Ability to execute with strategy while completing detailed complexities
• Start-up experience with business hypergrowth is preferred but not required
• Problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment
