The Inventory Control Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and optimizing the inventory operations at Just Ingredients. This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently handling consumables, regular cycle counts, receiving, returns, and turn rates by product. The Inventory Control Specialist collaborates closely with multiple departments to ensure the smooth flow of materials and accuracy in stock, maintain high standards for inventory management, contribute to a streamlined supply chain, and assist in on-time delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Order Management: Oversee the purchasing, tracking, and stock level management of consumables such as packaging, tape, and inserts, ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner to prevent shortages. Coordinate with cross-functional team members to support order management and maintain continuous communication with suppliers to confirm delivery schedules.
- Inventory Cycle Counts: Conduct monthly cycle counts to maintain less than 1% inventory shrinkage. Collaborate with team members to validate accuracy and resolve discrepancies, document findings, and suggest improvements based on analysis.
- Receiving Operations: Ensure 100% accuracy in receiving processes by verifying all items against purchase orders upon arrival and addressing discrepancies promptly. Coordinate logistics with suppliers and carriers, optimizing receiving schedules to align with supply chain needs and ensure proper storage of items post-receipt.
- Manufacturing Returns Management: Process and document manufacturing returns in compliance with company policies, working closely with quality and supply chain teams to address root causes. Track and resolve returned items efficiently, ensuring proper documentation and analysis.
- Customer Returns and Processing: Manage customer returns efficiently, inspecting and processing items promptly while tracking trends to improve product quality and customer satisfaction. Maintain detailed records of all returns for tracking and auditing purposes.
- Cross-Functional Collaborations: Maintain open communication with cross-departmental team members to enhance inventory control operations and coordinate movements. Regularly monitor and recommend inventory process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Assist shipping, receiving, and supply chain in their duties as needed and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
- Company Goals and Standards: Uphold company standards for precision, timeliness, and quality in all areas of inventory management. Create solutions that support shipping, receiving, and inventory goals, and support the health and safety policy and all warehouse guidelines. Proactively address major issues regarding inventory or process inefficiencies promptly and constructively.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in warehouse management and logistics is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, or logistics in a fast-paced environment; prior experience in consumer goods or manufacturing is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficient in inventory management software and WMS systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Identify root cause issues and create sustainable solutions
- High degree of integrity, reliability, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative and dynamic team environment with excellent judgment and discretion.
- On-site, full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend or overtime work as needed for special sale events.
- Warehouse environment with varying temperatures and timelines
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
