Responsibilities and Duties
Typical Duties :
- Risk Management
- Participate in the planning and preparation of the project safety program.
- Conduct daily safety huddles and regular weekly safety meetings.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) review during preparatory meetings with crews and subcontractors.
- Assess the site-specific safety training needs and conduct site safety training.
- Conduct regular walk through inspections of construction areas.
- Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made.
- Investigate personal injury and property damage accidents.
- Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents.
- Conduct various industrial hygiene sampling including H2S4, C02, LEL and O2 and noise monitoring to insure safe working conditions.
- Issue various entry permits such as confined space as required.
- Assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.
- Assist in emergency rescues as required.
- Assist in maintaining all safety systems and equipment, including but not limited to fire protection, fall protection, gas detectors, lock/out, tag/out and grounding systems.
- Administer site craft safety incentive and disciplinary program.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
Qualifications and Skills
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
Requirements include
- OSHA 30 certified
- 5 continuous years of document CEU's
- Must be able to provide proof of 8 hours of continuous safety training annually for the last five years
- General knowledge of EM385-1
- Four-year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or industrial related safety experience including 5-10 years of construction safety experience and 24hrs of documented formal safety and health training every year for the past 4yrs.
- Thorough understanding of all federal, state, local, and company regulations.
- Thorough understanding of environmental regulations, including but not limited to SWPP & HAZMAT.
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures essential.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills also required, including ability to work as a member of a team.
- Must be familiar with Federal OSHA regulations especially involving construction and EPA regulations and have heavy marine experience.
- Communication and computer skills required.
- College degree is preferred.
- 5 years of professional experience in field supervisory role for commercial general contractor or subcontractor.
- Strong working knowledge of project planning and scheduling for construction trades (all disciplines).
- Detailed knowledge of commercial construction practices
- Federal Construction/ DOD Experience Preferred
- USACE Quality Manager Certification Preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling software programs.
- Proven skills in the areas of math as well as excellent teamwork, communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills.
- Strong reasoning and comprehension skills.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to job site daily from personal residence
