What you will do:
To help support our rapid growth, we are seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our
Affordable Housing team. This position is a hybrid/remote work opportunity that requires
occasional travel to properties in our Affordable Housing portfolio and our corporate
office in Whitestown, Indiana.
The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that properties within our
portfolio comply with the regulations and requirements of Section 42 of the IRS, HUD
Multifamily, Rural Development, HOME, and AHP.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting timely file reviews for applicant and resident files. Ensuring
adherence to applicable federal and state program regulations
Communicating with site managers to answer their questions regarding
affordable housing compliance requirements. Providing accurate guidance to
help them increase their knowledge of applicable requirements.
Provide thorough written communication to relay file deficiencies to site
managers. Answering questions timely regarding requests that are made.
Abide by fair housing regulations
Assist in the preparation for and response to regulatory audits.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all compliance activities.
Stay informed about changes in relevant regulations and ensure timely
implementation of new requirements.
Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, within the affordable housing
sector.
One or two Affordable Housing certifications are required, listed below, or the
equivalent:
o HCCP Certification
o Certified Occupancy Specialist - COS
o Blended Occupancy Specialist - BOS
o S.T.A.R. Rural Development
In-depth knowledge of LIHTC, Section 8, and HOME programs
Ability to interpret complex regulations and laws and disseminate information
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as collaborate within a team environment
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Other duties as assigned
This position reports directly to the Director of Compliance.
