Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, outgoing Leak Testing Engineer to join our US operations and become a long-term, integral member of our organization.
This position will support our leak test department, learning about our proprietary equipment, calibrating panels in-house and at customer plants, and troubleshooting and repairing our equipment. The engineer will frequently visit customer plants for commissioning, service, sales, and support, receiving extensive training on our products in line with JW Froehlich guidelines. Maintaining strong customer relationships and establishing new ones where new panels have been sold is essential. We need an engineer who highly values integrity, is dedicated and motivated, and enjoys traveling and working with customers both domestically and internationally.
Location & Schedule:
- Base: Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
- Hybrid Option: If living out of state, required to visit Sterling Heights plant for team involvement as needed
- Travel: Domestic and international as required
- Start Date: Within 1-2 weeks of offer acceptance
Core Responsibilities:
- Debug and calibrate leak testing equipment in-house and at customer plants
- Commissioning and implementing equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair leak testing panels
- Conduct functional tests to ensure component integrity and performance
- Analyze test data and generate detailed reports
- Install modifications and upgrades to testing equipment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate leak testing systems into production lines
- Analyze specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to plan and determine sequence of operations
- Read electrical and pneumatic drawings
- Provide technical support and training to production staff on leak testing procedures
- Provide supporting documentation for all calibrations and modifications
- Multitask and communicate effectively with engineers, handling rapidly changing priorities efficiently
- Support weekend and off-shift testing needs when required
- Attend continuous improvement trainings domestically, via video conferencing or at our Germany facilities.
- Use precision and hand tools, including those for soldering
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and functional work area at all times
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in leak testing technologies and methodologies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a testing and/or engineering (pneumatics) environment
- Strong knowledge of leak testing principles, techniques, and equipment
- Proficiency in data analysis and report generation
- Working knowledge of computer-controlled hardware and instrumentation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Necessity to work effectively and transparently within our team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of automation and control systems
- Bilingual preferred (German or Spanish)
