What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Clinical Data Analytics position at JWCH Institute?
Position Purpose:
The Director of Clinical Data Analytics will be responsible for leading and managing the Data Governance Department. In this capacity, the Director will oversee a team of data analysts and support staff to implement policies and procedures established by the Data Governance Committee. This role will interact with all major company departments, including (but not limited to) Medical, CQI, IT, Operations, Compliance, Dental, and Finance.
Additionally, the Director will be tasked with creating a comprehensive 12-month training program for data interfacing staff to ensure best practices across all data users. Lastly, the Director of Clinical Data Analytics will be responsible for troubleshooting, integrating, and maintaining all major databases and data frameworks across the agency.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data management strategies, technologies, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of key data elements across systems and processes.
- Encourage departments across the agency to integrate data into their processes, demonstrating how data can improve healthcare outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders in the Data Governance Committee to understand agency goals, continuously enhance data quality, and align data initiatives with relevant projects and objectives.
- Work closely with the Data Governance Committee to maintain data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, including HIPAA, CCPA, and GDPR as applicable.
- Provide leadership and guidance to address data-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Plan, develop, deliver, and manage data management services, including analysis, support, roadmaps, risk management, security vulnerability assessment, stakeholder relations, and vendor management.
- Develop metrics, key performance indicators, and dashboards to monitor the effectiveness of data management practices and communicate performance to stakeholders.
- Understand the full data lifecycle—including agency-specific and legal data requirements of various functions—and determine how quality data can be optimally provided, analyzed, preserved, and leveraged for the agency's benefit.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Over 10 years of experience in data management.
- At least 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Preferred Certifications: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) and/or Data Management Fundamentals Certificate from DAMA International.
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field (required).
- Experience with Electronic Health Record Systems, preferably Next-Gen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
- Expertise in data analytics tools such as Tableau and SQL (Power BI experience preferred).
- Familiarity with data systems like i2i, LANES, COZEVA, and/or Azara.
- In-depth knowledge of system interoperability assessment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
