Medical Biller and Coder

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller and Coder to join our medical billing team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the billing process, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and facilitating timely collections. This position requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the overall billing cycle within an office environment.

Duties

• Review and verify patient information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing.
• Having experience with Waystar is preferred.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems, including ICD-10.
• Have a basic understanding, or preferably experience, with billing and coding for podiatric and wound care services.
• Have experience with other outpatient medical billing and coding services.
• Follow up on unpaid claims, perform medical collection activities, and resolve any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation to support billing processes.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to patient services or billing inquiries.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding their billing inquiries.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding across multiple specialties and medical practices.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems such as ICD-10 is essential.
• Knowledge of medical records management and the overall operations of a medical office.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in using billing software and systems related to medical billing processes, especially Waystar.
• Certifications in Medical Billing and Coding is a plus but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
