We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our team at K&A Engineering in Oak Brook, Illinois. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:

• Assist with the design of medium to high voltage AC and DC OH/UG transmission lines, including circuit rating calculations and cable system construction methods specifications
• Assist with the development of the cable system routing including considerations for trenched and trenchless crossings, splice vaults spacing and layout and substation interconnections
• Work with designers to develop drawing packages to support the design including route plan and profiles, trench cross sections, duct bank designs, and construction details
• Assist with studies and providing constructability reviews
• Assist with the preparation of project capital and expense estimates
• Perform calculations and prepare technical reports
• Support the documentation of newly constructed Transmission Line facilities
• Assist with the management of project correspondence, RFIs coordination and file management
• Work with an interdisciplinary project team including member from construction, design, civil, and electrical groups
  
  
  

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program
• 5 years of electrical engineering experience within substation or transmission
• Perform engineering responsibilities without assistance and minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
• Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel
• Support business development and marketing initiatives
• Strong attention to detail, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving
