Job Summary:
KG Stevens is the largest solid surface and granite/quartz fabricator in Wisconsin and due to our tremendous growth, we are looking for a CAD Technician to join our team! The CAD Technician will perform drafting and documentation to develop counter top specification drawings. These drawings are the design plans used to execute the fabrication and installation of our entire product line. Drawings include counter top dimensions, details of edge profiles, sinks, faucet holes, and more. We are seeking a talented individual with previous work experience in drafting using AutoCAD, or someone that has completed a degree/certification program where drafting courses were required.
The CAD Technician will work under the direction of the CAD Department Supervisor in an extremely fast paced environment producing drawings for shop employees to fabricate and field installers to install counter tops in client’s homes and/or commercial buildings. The employee is expected to be able to answer basic technical questions pertaining to the design of counter tops.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Create and revise production .dxf files for fabrication and installation of counter tops made from granite, quartz, and solid surface materials
- Create drawing files using digital photo software
- Create, update and maintain department library files
- Answer technical questions pertaining to counter top layout and design from shop employees, salespeople & clients
- Work with employees and customers alike to resolve any issues pertaining to counter top design and fit
- Communicate with office staff and clients via phone and email in a professional manner
- Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management
- Update web based job tracking software throughout the job process
- Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data in order to calculate part dimension compatibility with machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
- May occasionally work on special projects or perform other duties as assigned
The Ideal Candidate Would:
- Have an Associate’s Degree in computer aided drafting or equivalent work experience
- Have a solid understanding of drafting techniques and the countertop fabrication industry is a plus
- Have knowledge of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Have an understanding of the machining and manufacturing process is a plus
- Must be able to read and comprehend architectural drawings
- Have a knowledge of cabinetry and/or millwork
- Be able to measure accurately
- Have a very strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a timely manner towards the completion of each assigned job
- Enjoy problem solving in a fast-paced environment
- Be proficient in math

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles and moderate to high noise levels while in the shop. Safety equipment is provided for employees that will be in these areas.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally need to lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
