Position Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on Estimator. The Estimator is responsible for planning projects, creating accurate estimates, working with subcontractors and procuring materials. You will work directly with superintendents and foremen to plan the construction of the entire project As an Estimator you will be ensuring that company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed. The Estimator will provide leadership and management to team leaders and their crews focusing on safe, profitable, productive and quality of work every day.
Responsibilities:
Plan, estimate expenses, and lay-out work. Ensure job specific needs are acquired prior to project starting.
Develop a thorough understanding of the project plans, specifications and schedules.
Continuously following up with crews throughout the project to ensure they are constructing the project in accordance with your bid.
Inspect work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and take any corrective action needed.
Track and capture quantities completed on the project and review for accuracy.
Gain a complete understanding of the scope of work and the related parts of the project.
Plan and coordinate the purchasing of materials needed to ensure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment are available.
Assist with all pre-construction aspects of the project including pre-construction meetings, material orders and material and equipment submittals.
Monitor the quality of work and assure that correct construction procedures are followed, and that work is in compliance with the plans and specifications.
Monitor productivity rates and review with crew.
Manage crew to ensure productivity requirements are maintained or exceeded.
Have a working knowledge of scheduling, material control, unit man hour performance.
Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards to prevent re-work.
Perform other job specific duties as requested by owners
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Educational and experience requirements include:
High school diploma or its equivalent
Combination of technical training and/or experience
Required minimum of 2 years’ experience in similar construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures
Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, estimating, cost control and ability to control and supervise groups are essential.
Must have a current valid driver s license.
HCSS knowledge a plus
Basic knowledge of construction methods, reading of plans and specifications
Someone who worked in the field or office related to utilities, concrete flatwork or concrete structures
Maintain relationships with local suppliers and subcontractors
