Position Summary
The Vice President of Development will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing KABOOM!'s fundraising strategy at a pivotal time for the organization. With a changing economic landscape, shifting donor priorities, and evolving funding trends, we need a visionary and adaptable leader who can build and strengthen corporate, foundation, and individual donor partnerships while identifying new opportunities to drive sustainable revenue growth.
The VP will oversee all aspects of fundraising strategy, including securing major gifts, diversifying revenue streams, and fostering multi-year philanthropic partnerships. They will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team to ensure fundraising efforts align with the organization’s mission, impact goals, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Fundraising Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy to drive revenue growth, ensuring KABOOM! remains financially strong and positioned for long-term success
- Identify and cultivate high-value partnerships with corporations, foundations, and individual donors, increasing multi-year commitments and unrestricted funding
- Work closely with the CEO, Board, and senior leadership to align fundraising strategy with KABOOM!’s broader mission and strategic objectives
- Provide expert insight on market trends, economic factors, and donor priorities, helping KABOOM! navigate shifts in the funding landscape
Revenue Growth & Major Gift Strategy
- Lead the Development team to expand and diversify funding sources, including corporate, foundation, government, and individual giving
- Secure transformational gifts and multi-year commitments, ensuring sustained financial support for KABOOM!’s initiatives
- Oversee the creation of compelling fundraising proposals and donor stewardship plans, ensuring long-term engagement and retention
- Develop and execute digital fundraising and donor engagement strategies to drive growth in online giving and grassroots fundraising efforts
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop Development team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and results
- Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the team, ensuring they have the resources and guidance to meet and exceed fundraising targets
- Build internal capacity by implementing best practices in fundraising, donor stewardship, and partnership management
Cross-Team Collaboration & Organizational Impact
- Collaborate closely cross-departmentally to ensure fundraising efforts align with KABOOM!’s goals and operational needs
- Work alongside leadership to develop cases for support that effectively communicate KABOOM!’s impact and attract new funders
- Provide data-driven insights and regular fundraising reports to leadership, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making
Education and Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Proven leadership experience in development, philanthropy, or business development, with a track record of securing multi-million-dollar gifts and partnerships
- Deep understanding of corporate, foundation, and individual giving trends, with the ability to build and sustain high-value partnerships
- Experience leading large-scale fundraising initiatives, managing complex donor relationships, and navigating evolving funding environments
- Strong strategic and business acumen, with experience developing and executing revenue growth strategies
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire executive-level stakeholders, donors, and partners
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel nationally for donor engagement and fundraising events
- Experience working in social impact, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations preferred
