We’re currently looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Sterilization and Records Technician to join our growing orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff by ensuring that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and prepared for use. This position requires a strong understanding of sterilization protocols, as well as familiarity with various dental systems and procedures. As a Records Technician you will okay a key role in supporting clinical and administrative operations by ensuring accurate and organized patient records. This position is responsible for gathering and maintaining patient records, including digital imaging, orthodontic models, photographs, and treatment documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with both technology and patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Duties
- Perform sterilization of dental instruments and equipment following established protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sterilization area, ensuring that all tools are readily available for dental procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of treatment rooms before patient appointments, ensuring all necessary instruments are sterile and ready for use.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, including temperature logs and equipment maintenance records.
- Collaborate with dental assistants to support four-handed dentistry practices during patient treatments.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Stay updated on best practices in sterilization techniques, including advancements in technology related to dental systems
- Take and process orthodontic records including digital X-rays, photographs, and 3D or traditional impressions/scans
- Organize and maintain patient charts and digital records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Assist in scheduling patients for records appointments and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed
- Input patient data accurately into practice management software
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate recordkeeping
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the records/imaging area
- Manage lab cases and ensure models and records are available for treatment planning
- Ensure all imaging equipment is calibrated and functioning properly
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in sterilization or dental/orthodontic assisting preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- Knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional, friendly, and reliable
