- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and process weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payrolls for all employees, including salaried, hourly staff, and union payroll.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and all payroll deductions.
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare and file all necessary payroll tax reports and payments timely and accurately, including quarterly and annual reports.
- Generate and submit regular payroll reports to management and external agencies.
- Maintain and update payroll systems and software, ensuring data integrity.
- Collaborate with IT and HR departments to integrate payroll systems with other business functions.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Provide training and support to employees on payroll processes and systems; address payroll-related inquiries from employees
- Manage and communicate payroll policies and procedures clearly and effectively.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to standardize practices and ensure compliance.
- Participate in all payroll internal and external audits including benefits and 401k.
- General accounting projects and support as required.
- Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in payroll management, preferably in an architectural, construction, or professional services environment.
- Union payroll processing
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax requirements.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software implementation
- General accounting background preferred
- General human resources knowledge a plus
- Required Skills
- Proficiency in payroll software such as Unanet, UKG, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Exceptional mindfulness and accuracy in processing payroll data.
