JOB SUMMARY
The Food Runner is responsible for assisting the servers in providing patrons of Hau Tree the very best dining experience, provide authentic connections while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the hours of operation. To be considered for this role, you should be available to work various shifts, including weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Food runners at Hau Tree should be hospitality-driven professionals, providing thoughtful, knowledgeable, and warm customer service.
- Delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables rapidly and accurately.
- Service guests with all food and beverage requirements in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner.
- Acting as the point of contact between Front of the House and Back of the House staff.
- Communicating food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities (e.g. food allergies).
- Required to have comprehensive knowledge of the Hau Tree’s food and beverage menus.
- Able to provide excellent service at a high-volume pace, remain calm under pressure, anticipate guests needs and preemptively resolve issues.
- Food runners are expected to clear and reset tables, and run food.
- Previous restaurant experience is preferred along with a willingness to learn, the dedication to constantly improve service standards, and a strong sense of commitment to working as a team.
- Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to station rotation assignment and established checklist.
- Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check).
- Ensure that tables and side stands are kept stocked, tidy and clean.
- Breakdown trays of soiled dishes and linen according to established standards.
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the dining area while carrying full trays of food & beverages.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner throughout the hotel.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Kaimana Beach Hotel standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
- Comply with Kaimana Beach Hotel standards, policies, and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
- Passion for excellence and great enthusiasm in providing exceptional service standards.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
- Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
